Lions Club of Alakode

Lions Club of Alakode organised it's annual family Tour to Masinsgudi and Ooty on 30th April and 1st May 2017. The tour was marked by good participation by the family members. Everyone enjoyed the trip as we were able to spot wild animals, including, tiger, elephants, deers, wild buffalos, peacocks, different varieties of monkeys, etc. At Ooty, we were welcomed by heavy rain cooked with heavy hail storm. The children and adults enjoyed picking up "Aalippazhams" in galore.

Lions Club of Alakode in co-operation with Muthoot Snehasraya conducted a Kidney Care Camp for the general public. Camp took place on Friday, 10th March 2017 and more than eighty people attended the camp. Free consultation and evaluation of test results and a class on kidney diseases and treatment was done by Dr. Jaison Elavumkal.

District Governor of Lions District 318E Ln. CA K Sivaprasad MJF visited the Lions Club of Alakode on Sunday, 19th March 2017. President and members of the Club gave him and his spouse Ln. Ganga Devi, a very warm welcome. As per the protocol, he attended the Board of Directors meeting and thereafter, Family General Body was held to mark the visit. During the DG visit, he also inducted a new member, Ln. Bijo Kattackal to our Club. President Ln. Jameer Jan gave the presidential address followed by the presentation of Club Report by Secretary Ln. Soby Cherian. During the session, District Governor honoured Senior Member Ln. Dr. K J Thomas MJF for his outstanding services. DG appreciated the service activities of the Club and congratulated Ln. Dr. Jaison Elavumkal for contributing USD 1000 towards MJF. DG also distributed pins to Club Officers, Charter members and Past Presidents of the Club.

Lions Club of Alakode in cooperation with Al Salama Eye Hospital Kannur conducted a free Eye Inspection and Cataract Detection camp for the general public. The camp was conducted on 28th January 2017. The camp was inaugurated by Alakode Grama Panchayat President Mrs. Molly Manuel. President Ln. Jameer Jan chaired the meeting. IPP Ln. Ajith Varma, Ln. Rajesh Pulikal and other members were present to assist in orderly conduct of the camp. More than 100 people attended the camp. Eye inspection was done without charge and those requiring cataract operation were identified at the camp and cataract operation will be conducted free of charge.

The first family general body meeting for 2017 was held on 26th January 2017. On this day, Club held the New Year party for the family members. The general body meeting was chaired by President Ln. Jameer Jan. IPP Ln. Ajith Varma gave the Republic Day message. As part of Club's initiative for promoting greener environment, Senior Member Ln. Dr. K. J. Thomas planted a tree sapling at the Lions Compound in Arangam. Club also distributed two tree saplings each to all the 49 members for planting at their home. The family general body celebration was coordinated by Ln. Varghese Chintarmaniyil. As part of the celebration, cake was cut by Club Treasurer Ln. Sabu Pallithara. Games for the family members were led by Ln. Dr. Jaison Elavumkal. Prices were distributed to all the participants. The meeting ended with fellowship and dinner for all.
